Why have a Shiatsu?
Shiatsu is a Japanese form of bodywork based on traditional Chinese medicine. It works on the meridian system of the body as acupuncture does. It is highly effective, deeply relaxing and can be beneficial both for specific conditions and as preventative healthcare.
What’s a Shiatsu treatment like?
Shiatsu usually takes place on a padded mat or futon, although it is also possible to receive shiatsu on a massage table or chair. You remain fully clothed and it is good to wear loose comfortable clothes. No two treatments are the same. The treatment includes stretches, gentle manipulation of joints, and with the therapist using relaxed body weight, the application of soft but deep pressure to the meridian energy pathways of the body.
