Our 6 week Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction Course starting Wednesday 9th September.
Mindfulness is about learning to pay attention in the present moment with curiosity, self-compassion and acceptance. Extensive research has found this kind of attention leads to lower levels of stress, anxiety, depression, blood pressure, gastro-intestinal conditions, chronic pain and a reduction in a wide range of stress-related illnesses.
At Butterfield Osteopathy we teach a a 6-week mindfulness course, including the key elements of Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR). Each session is two hours long and consists of guided mindfulness exercises and meditations, discussion and recommended home practice. You will receive a copy of guided meditations and a workbook for your home study. You are invited to practice at home for up to half an hour each day for the duration of the course to maximise the beneficial effect for you. The home practice will be discussed at each session. Starting a mindfulness course requires commitment from your part and it’s not always an easy journey. It can be hard work but it’s very rewarding if you stick with it.
The course is taught by Maria Larrain who is a registered osteopath and has been interested in mindfulness for many years. She trained under Shamash Alidina who is the author of several mindfulness books including ‘˜Mindfulness for Dummies’.
The course is held in a small group of maxiumum 7 people at Butterfield Osteopathy. We offer an early bird rate of £220, if you pay the course in full a month before the start date. The price is £250 but you can secure a place with a £80 non-refundable deposit. The course requires commitment, so unfortunately we are unable to refund you for any missed sessions.
